Where has the year gone?

Hard to believe that I last sat down for an update in July!

The past several months have been packed, and have flown by.  It's been the summer of Shakespeare!

Romeo and Juliet with Poor Yorick's Players was followed by Love's Labour's Lost with Pittsburgh Shakespeare in the Parks.  Then it was back to Poor Yorick's for Two Gentlemen of Verona (nicely reviewed here by The Shakepeare Post).  In the midst of all that, I dashed away for a couple of days to work with the wonderful students at Marietta College in their production of The Illusion.

I had one last brush-up on fights last night for Phase 3 Productions' Roberto Zucco...things are in pretty good shape and I'm looking forward to seeing this one with an audience.  Come check it out, weekends in November!

And then we'll be mostly laying low for the holidays, save for a trip out to Drake University and the Carnage in the Corn stage combat workshop the weekend before Thanksgiving.

Romeo and Juliet
Monday, 06 July 2009 15:29

We've just started rehearsals for Romeo and Juliet with Poor Yorick's Players out in Monroeville, PA.  The fights are set, now it's time to polish, Polish, POLISH that choreography until it shines (and it wouldn't hurt for us to break out the scotch pads and metal-glo to polish the weapons--outdoor rehearsals in the damp weather we've been having make the sword bag a breeding ground for rust, unfortunately).  We'll post photos of the fights as we get them--too busy rehearsing to play shutterbug right now!

Update, 8/8/09: A great opening night last night!  We've been getting quite a few compliments and kudos on the fights, and we are very proud of our combatants.  Come out and see us! For more details, visit Poor Yorick's online: http://www.pooryoricksplayers.org/.
